Znojmo, I´m seeing you twice.
A well-known slogan referring to the reputation of a city abounding in wine and the revelry associated with it. Every year Znojmo host wine festival that fully confirms this truth. In addition, Znojmo pickles, beer from the local brewery, but above all the atmosphere of an unusually pleasant historical town above the Dyje river canyon, near Podyjí National Park. Here, under the church of St. Michael, on the rock ledge with the Romanesque rotunda of St. Catherine, the Znojmo castle and the vineyards of Eden, you can delight your eyes with a view of the beautiful scenery with a glass of wine in your hands.
The surroundings of Znojmo are even more beautiful. The picturesque wine villages of Hnanice, Šatov and Havraníky are the real gems of South Moravia. Local winemakers founded the 1st cru wine association in our country. Veltliner, Sauvignon blanc and Riesling are the varieties that most typically reflect the local terroir. Like a jewel among the vineyards lies the most iconic vineyard in our country and maybe in Europe – Šobes. Beautiful location in the meanders of the river Dyje, wooded surroundings and hills protecting from northern winds. These are the main attributes of this exceptional vineyard.
